By implementing a high-touch service delivery model, data systemization, and AI-powered solutions in fund operations, Formulary is taking on the defining challenges of the asset management industry. Private markets span thousands of GPs and trillions in assets under management; the industry stands at the brink of a seismic transformation driven by the convergence of evolving investor expectations and rise of emerging technologies.

What Impact You Will Own and Drive

  • Lead Data Strategy: Identify and integrate alternative and proprietary datasets that enhance our product capabilities; partner with engineering to transform raw financial data into high-value data products.

  • Algorithmic Innovation: Devise and utilize advanced algorithms and statistical models to mine complex data sets. You will perform rigorous error analysis to iterate on and improve model performance, optimizing precision and recall.

  • Data Integrity & Validation: Lead the "Gold Standard" effort for data at Formulary—cleaning and validating large structured and unstructured datasets to ensure 100% uniformity and accuracy for audit-grade financial reporting.

  • Experimental Execution: Design and execute analytical experiments to solve high-stakes problems in fund administration, ranging from anomaly detection in ledger entries to automated document synthesis.

  • Trend & Pattern Discovery: Analyze vast pools of private market data to identify trends, benchmarks, and patterns that provide GPs and LPs with unprecedented visibility into their portfolios.

  • Production Deployment: Collaborate with Software Engineers to move your models from research to production, ensuring they are scalable, performant, and reliable.

What You Need

  • Statistical & Mathematical Expertise: Deep proficiency in mathematics, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling (e.g., Bayesian inference, regression, or deep learning).

  • AI/ML Frameworks: Expert-level experience with Python and its data ecosystem (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Pandas) and modern LLM orchestration (LangChain, LlamaIndex).

  • Data Engineering Literacy: Strong exposure to data warehousing, SQL, and building sophisticated data pipelines to support model training and inference.

  • Quantitative Problem Solving: 4+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist, preferably within a research-oriented or product-driven environment.

  • MLOps Familiarity: Understanding of how to deploy models in a cloud-native environment (AWS/Azure) using containerization (Docker).

  • Clean Coding: A commitment to writing reproducible, production-quality code and maintaining defensive programming standards for sensitive financial data.

Extra / Bonus

  • Fintech Track Record: Previous success at a category-defining fintech (e.g., Ramp, Addepar, Square, Revolut).

  • Early-Stage Experience: Experience as an early data hire at a high-growth startup, navigating the journey from 0 to 1.

  • AI-Native Builder: Hands-on experience building agentic workflows or AI-native services with high user adoption.

  • Financial Domain Knowledge: Direct experience in asset management, fund accounting, or private markets.
